The promises around it run from modest to enormous — more energy, better immunity, glowing skin, a cure for anything. What’s harder to find is a straight answer about what it genuinely does, where the evidence is strong, and where it’s still marketing.

Here’s that answer, without the hype. What IV therapy actually is, how your body uses it, what a session feels like, who tends to benefit, and where the science is solid versus still developing — so you can decide whether it’s worth it for you.

Quick Definitions

IV (intravenous) therapy — delivering fluids, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into a vein, usually in your arm, through a thin flexible tube called a catheter.
